: Residents of DLF here have decided to move court against the alleged failure of the developer to provide adequate water storage capacity as per the licence conditions.
For the past several days, the residents of DLF Phase-I and Phase-III have been grappling with severe water shortage. They have been largely dependent on water supplied by tankers. Power supply has also been erratic, with Block U in DLF Phase-III being the worst-hit due to frequent breakdowns of overloaded transformers.
Though officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority have been blaming the shortage of water on erratic power supply at its water treatment plants at Basai and Chandu Budhera, the residents feel that the developer has not created adequate infrastructure for storage of water. “It has become a routine affair now. Every summer the area faces water shortage. The developer has failed to create a storage capacity as per the conditions in the licence. We have, therefore, decided to move court,” said DLF Qutab Enclave president R.S. Rathee, who is also a spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party.
DLF residents had also faced severe water crisis during the Jat reservation agitation earlier this year.
When contacted, the DLF spokesperson attributed the shortage of water to a reduced supply from HUDA. “It is wrong to blame the storage capacity when the supply from the treatment plants has gone down considerably,” the spokesperson said.
Water supply has also been affected in Nirvana Country, Sushant Lok-I, South City-II and in Sectors 49 and 50.
