The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the State government on the issue pertaining to implementation of recommendations made by the Centre as well as the H.P. State Commission for Backward Classes to include Muslim sub-caste/communities in the State list of OBC. The has Court sought a reply from the government within four weeks.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma, passed the orders on a writ petition filed by the All-Himachal Muslim Welfare Society.

The Society said that it had been requesting the State government to include the names of some sub-category, sub-castes/profession of Muslim categories in the State list of OBC since 1999. But despite various representations, the State government is not implementing the recommendations made by the Centre as well as the State Commission. - PTI
