Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has accused the Centre of withdrawing financial help and giving a step-motherly treatment to the hill State.
Addressing a public meeting in Chamba on Thursday he said although the newly formed NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India-Policy Commission) has not formally announced the cut, but its working shows the intention of withdrawal of funds to the State.
The CM claimed that the progress of hill State was possible only when there were Congress governments at the Centre and the State. The Congress Prime Ministers had given sufficient funds to the backward hill State and now Himachal Pradesh has become one of the foremost States among the small hill States, he said.
Mr Singh said despite the hostile attitude of Centre, the State has made tremendous progress in rural development and generation of hydro electricity among the Himalayan States. Private and top corporate sectors are showing interest to invest in the hill State because of peaceful atmosphere, clean environment and cheap electricity, he claimed.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, Ravinder Ravi, a former Minister and sitting BJP MLA, on Thursday directed the officials to stop misuse of government funds.
