May 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Coimbatore:

Enforcement officers from Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation inspected all municipalities in The Nilgiris district on May 25 and 26 and collected records pertaining to employees engaged on contract by the civic bodies.

According to a press release from the organisation, an inquiry would soon be initiated to determine the eligible workers and the total amount due to them.

It said that all contract employees, engaged by private and government organisations, were eligible for provident fund and pension and that the EPFO would take strict action against all the establishments that did not extend the benefits. Compliance under EPFO rules was mandatory for all the establishments whose employee strength was more than 20 and for all the contract employees hired by government organisations.
