Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP T.K.S. Elangovan has criticised the State Health Department for the poor treatment given to 16 patients who underwent cataract surgery in Mettur Government Hospital.

Addressing reporters at the airport here on Saturday, he said the AIADMK government functioned not for the people but the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. He said right from allotting a seat to his party leader M. Karunanidhi in the Assembly to scuttling discussion on the Rs. 570 crore seized during election in Coimbatore to not allowing DMK MLAs to speak in the Assembly, the AIADMK government seemed to be functioning not for the people but its leader.
