Man ends life at de-addiction centre

N. Nandhakumar (35) of Dendu Hill in Coonoor, The Nilgiris, reportedly ended his life at a de-addiction centre, near Periyanaickenpalayam, at the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.

The police said that he worked for a private telecom company and got married to N. Nithya (35), who was a cashier in a cooperative bank, about five years ago.

Nandhakumar was addicted to alcohol and his wife admitted him to a de-addiction centre at Ayyachamy Nagar near Periyanaickenpalayam about three months ago.

But even after he was discharged he continued to be alcoholic. He was once again admitted to the centre.

On Tuesday evening, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room at the centre.

Case registered

The Periyanaickenpalayam Police registered a case and was investigating.

His body was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
