Man dies after falling off flyover

Sekar (45) of Idukki district in Kerala who works as a security guard at Sulur died after falling off the Avinashi Road Flyover in the wee hours of Monday.

Traffic Investigation Wing (West) police said that the man was seated as pillion rider while his friend Sabarish was riding the bike.

It is learnt that the bike hit the roundabout on the flyover. Sekar was thrown away and landed below at the bottom of the flyover and died. Sabarish was badly injured and was admitted in the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Killed in accident

Narayanadas (45), a construction labourer from Assam, got killed after a speeding private ambulance knocked him down near Chinniyampalayam on Monday.

The victim, who stayed at Chinniyampalayam, was working in the flyover construction work at Gandhipuram. Sulur police said that he was crossing the road when the accident took place.

The van was carrying a patient who was getting treated at a hospital in the city to his house at Tirupur. But on reaching the destination the patient also died.

According to the police, the van driver who did not stop at the spot after the accident was secured at Tirupur and is being questioned.

A case was registered against him under section 304(A) (causing death due to negligence of the Indian Penal Code.
