Judge of the Mahila Court, Udhagamandalam, Sarvamangala on Friday convicted and sentenced Mani alias Subramani (55) of Thooneri in Kil Kotagiri area to seven years rigorous imprisonment on charges of sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl.
According to prosecution, the accused sexually abused the girl on July 19, 2014 and based on her parent’s complaint a case was registered. Holding the accused guilty of the charges, the judge convicted the accused to undergo seven years rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
The judge ordered that the girl’s family be provided a solatium of Rs 2 lakh from the victim’s relief fund.
