Labourer from Bihar found dead

A 22-year-old labourer from Bihar was found dead under a pile of coir at a coir company on Pollachi to Palladam Road on Friday. The police said that the victim Ravindhar Kumar Pashvan (22) complained of illness on Thursday night.

On Friday morning, the workers saw some coir hoards had fallen down. On removing close to a tonne of coir they found Ravindhar Kumar dead.

His body was taken to the Pollachi Government Hospital, where post-mortem examination will be conducted after his family arrives.

Negamam Police registered a case under 174 (accidental fall) of the Code of Criminal Procedures. They added that the sections would be altered based on the findings of the post-mortem report and during the course of inquiry.

Chains snatched

A 34-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain near Somanur on Friday. Police said J. Baby of Karavazhimathapur was returning home when two persons came on a motorcycle and snatched her 4.4 sovereign gold chain.

The Karumathampatty Police registered a case and was investigating.

In another incident, two unidentified persons riding a bike snatched a 10 sovereign chain from N. Sampoornam (58) of Ganapathy Maa Nagar when she was returning home from a temple near her house in the late hours of Friday.

The city police were on the lookout for the accused.

Skeletal

remains found

The skeletal remains of R. Rangasamy (56), a farmer of Kuthamadai Junction near Sirumugai, were found at Mooliyur in Sirumugai Forest Range on Friday. Sirumugai police said that he went to a temple on May 22 and was missing.

On Friday, the skeletal remains of the man were identified by the victim’s son R. Kannan.

It is suspected that he could have been attacked by a wild animal.

Woman

abducted

Annur Police have arrested Gopal Sharma (31) of Senkalipalayam near Annur for allegedly abducting a 23-year-old girl of the same area on Friday.

It is learnt that he was in love with the girl, while the girl was not.

She was abducted by four of his friends, who later let her go after she refused to marry him.

The five were booked under sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 366 (abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) and 506(i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
