Aakash Mishra is on a cycling trip. He started off from Indore, his hometown, a month ago and after visiting Chennai, Pondicherry, Vellore, passed Bengaluru last week. After a day’s stay here the 20-year-old boy took off to “explore Hubli”. He heads to Goa and Pune next , before he reaches Indore by the end of this month.
Why cycling?
He says, “Cycling is a passion for me. I love to take off with my bare necessities and cycle across borders. I like cycling on the highways and feel alive while I am on the wheels. You get to learn about good people out there and gain confidence, strength, courage and health. Being on the road soothes your mind.”
Aakash loves to travel alone. He states, “ It allows me to spend some quality time with myself. It’s helpful when I beautiful face challenges. It also helps meidentify my strengths and weaknesses, which helps me grow as a person.”
He explains that his cycling expeditions are backed by a mission.
This time, his 20-city trip is an attempt to create awareness on the importance of education. I spend time with the local people, stay with them and talk to them.
This also helps me to understand and explore religion, language, people, mindset, geography, history, business, problems, transportation.
Interacting with people, sharing lives and living with them has changed his perception of the world. Another interesting fact about his travel, he says is hitch hiking. “I hitch hike when I am going back after completing my trip. Hitch-hiking is an interesting means of travel, where you ask for lifts in passing vehicles. The best part is you don’t have to pay for it.”
“People say money is everything but I personally feel good behaviour, humbleness, and love are more powerful. For me travelling is a way of learning and living.”
