Protein power for Imran

Imran Khan is an ectomorph. Given his high metabolism rate, the actor has never really been the poster boy for six-pack abs. “I have always had a thin wiry frame. But now I am serious about adding some bulk to my body and that takes a lot of focused effort. It is a slow process,” says the actor, who is expecting his first baby with Avantika Malik in June and doesn’t believe in steroids.

After Gori Tere Pyar Mein released end of last year, Imran Khan has not picked up any new films aside from the newly-signed Nikhil Advani’s film that is to begin in July-August. “I began my diet planning from the time I knew I was to go off films for a while being on this ‘paternity’ break,” he says.

Imran follows a protein-rich diet throughout the day. “That means there is a variety of meats on my plate at all times. I have chicken breast, salmon and lamb. I have to space it out every two hours and I can feel the change.”

“Taking steroids can be damaging in the long run. The side effects are too difficult to handle. I’d rather focus on my diet and workout plans if I need to change my look,” says the actor. Imran trains with celebrity fitness trainer Praveen Tokas.
