This Ugadi, Udaya Channel is launching two serials — Aramane and Sundari . Both are said to be original stories — otherwise the trend has been to remake many popular Tamil or Telugu ones to Kannada serials.
Moreover, both the serials star silver screen actors — Jai Jagadeesh, Sudharani and Vinaya Prasad.
Aramane , starring Jai Jagadish and Sudharani, looks at the lives of stars — an apt subject when film stars themselves are portraying the characters. Jai Jagadish pointed out how the serial traces the ups and downs of a movie star’s life and career. Sure to make an interesting watch for all of us who are obsessed with the lives of stars.
The idea behind the serial Sundari seems even fresher. Not a family soap again, thank god! Shot in the Malnad region, it looks at the lives of young students who spend a lot of their time at school and in the lap of nature. Vinaya Prasad plays mom again, but how she faces up to the world raising her children in this environment steers the story.
Sundari airs at 7.30 p.m. and Aramane at 8 p.m. every Monday to Friday, from April 11 on Udaya Channel.
Aramane is a comeback to serials for Sudha Rani, a popular star of Sandalwood in the 1990s. Her first stint in television was short lived. Jai Jagadish, too, is not new to television. In the serial Sundari , Vinaya Prakash, who is no stranger to television, plays an important role.
