A still from Darling

As a composer, G. V. Prakash’s long-time desire was to score for a horror flick…and that never happened, till now. Darling , which will be his first outing on screen as an actor, will see him composing for the horror genre for the first time.

It was a chance encounter that landed him this project. “I’d just finished working out in the gym and bumped into producer Gnanavel Raja outside. I showed him the stills of Pencil , the film I was starring in, and he liked them. He called me in the evening to discuss a prospective project…and here we are!”

The actor’s primary challenge was to portray expressions of fear in the shots. “To show them was quite a challenge,” says GV, who trained under ‘Aadukalam’ Naren for a month to prepare for the role. “As it is primarily a horror-comedy, I had to show various expressions showcasing fear,” he adds.

Music-wise, the album sees the coming together of Shreya Ghoshal and Shankar Mahadevan after a long time under GV — they last sang the melodious Uruguthey in Veyyil . “There’s also theme music for the ghost in the film,” he reveals.

Prakash plays Kathir in this flick that’s the remake of Prema Katha Chitram in Telugu.

Directed by Sam Anton, it has Bangalore girl Nikki Galrani in the female lead and is produced by Gnanavel Raja and Allu Aravind.
