Padma shri awardee Rajinder Singh Bedi’s short story “Lajwanti” has been adapted into a TV series Rajinder Singh Bedi Swara Rachit Lajwanti which will be aired on Zee TV soon. Trilogy Media, owned by Ila Bedi Dutta. Siddharth Makkar and Ankita Sharma would be seen in the lead roles of Sundarlal and Lajwanti.

The show has been produced by Ila Bedi Dutta’s Trilogy Media. “It is a very prestigious day for the Bedi family. I have been writing this story from past 15 years and now it is time for our hard work to yield good results,” said Ila.

The produced further said, “The story is a little serious but it’s a love story. Itis set against the backdrop of Partition but the way the story is written, it’s very contemporary in its tone, and you won’t feel that it’s set in 1947. Love stories are timeless. This is one such timeless epic love story of Lajwanti and Sundarlal.” Lajwant It is a tumultuous love story of Lajwanti and Sunderlal, a story of parting and interweaving of situations that questions the sacredness of their liaison.

Ila has also involved her brothers, Rajat and Manik Bedi in this project. Manik, who is playing Siddharth Makkar’s father “Kishorilal’ in the show has acted in films liked Zinda Dil , Maseeha,Jaane Jigar , Dand Nayak , Bhai Bhai to his credit. Rajat, the co-producer of the show, is also a renowned yester year’s actor. Ila, Manik and Rajat are the late writer’s grandchildren.

Manik, excited returning to acting after a long gap, remarked, “I am acting after 15 years now and it’s an awesome experience. I am very lucky to play this role in a serial based on my grandfather’s story. When I stopped acting, Ila took to writing this show. She asked me that I let her make the serial so that after 15 years I can start working on it.”
