Picnic spot

Almatti dam is near Bijapur. It is on river Krishna, which originates in the Western Ghats in Maharashtra and flows through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before falling into the Bay of Bengal. The Nagarjuna dam is also on river Krishna.

I visited the Almatti dam with my brothers. There are seven terrace gardens in the surrounding area of the dam. This area is a picnic spot. There are floating musical fountains and stagnant fountains too.

There is a garden named Rock Hill on one side of the dam. It has an artificial forest with ceramic wild animals and birds.

The Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) has a 290 megawatt power project towards the right side of the Almatti dam. Thus, Alamatti dam is not only a picnic spot but also stores water and produces electricity. The best time to visit Almatti is between February and March.
