Concept : A horror comedy conceived by Kona Venkat, who also wrote the screenplay and dialogues from a story by debut director Rajakiran. M.V.V. Sathyanarayana, a builder from Vizag stepping into showbiz to produce quality films, promises loads of entertainment laced with an element of mystery in his debut production. Interestingly, humour artiste Srinivasa Reddy is playing the protagonist in this heroine-oriented movie.
Director’s take : “The story is set in the urban milieu and starts with a film shoot. You can call it a film within a film. Anjali comes to Hyderabad on a search mission. She meets Srinivasa Reddy and his friends, ‘Satyam’ Rajesh and ‘Shakalaka’ Shankar who lend support to her. What she is searching for and how she has succeeded or whether at all she has succeeded in her mission forms the main theme. It is totally a heroine-centric story and Anjali is playing such a role for the first time in her career. The first half of the story travels smoothly like a joy ride with lots of fun but the second half takes the audience through many twists and turns, thrilling at the same time entertaining. We are trying to give a totally new movie experience for the viewers. The other key players in the absorbing drama are Rao Ramesh, Narra Srinu, Madhunandan, Harshvardhan Rane and Aparna Varma. Sai Sriram has handled the camera and Upendra is editing the movie.”
Rajakiran was a student of M.S. Narayana who taught Telugu in KSR College, Bhimavaram. As he was interested in a career in films, he has decided to follow him but M.S. advised him to complete his studies first. Later it was through Sri Maganti Babu he could get a foot hold in this industry working as an assistant director to V.R. Pratap and later with Raja Vannemreddy.
Progress : Most of the film’s shoot was held in and around Hyderabad. A song was filmed in the scenic locations of Chikmagalur composed by the U.S. based music director Praveen Lakkaraju. The movie is now in its post production work at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad and is slated for release in August.
