Life of a student

Ashwin Kakumanu, who stepped into limelight with his role in Mankatha , has three films that are in various stages of completion. “In Thiri, which is about a father-son relationship, I play an unambitious student who constantly gets into trouble in college. Do I learn a lesson or do I become a professor, as my father wants me to be? There is an internal turmoil too that many youngsters will relate to,” he says. Ashwin is currently shooting for Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kadhai, in which he plays a video game designer who becomes rich overnight.

Campus menace

Abish and Maumitha Chowdhary will be debuting in director Yasser’s Kadhale Vendaam Saami . “Abish and Maumitha play law college students, with the story revolving around unscrupulous elements within the student community, who use social media to tarnish the image of female students. There is a message in it for family audiences too,” says Yasser.

Marriage not made in heaven

The teaser for Kattappavae Kaanom has garnered positive responses, and the film’s hero, Sibiraj, is all smiles. “I play an IT professional who finds it difficult to hang on to a permanent job. My character is married, and finds it difficult to live up to responsibilities. The script is about how it is important for a husband and wife (Aishwarya Rajesh) to lend stability in each other’s life,” says Sibiraj.
