“Are you the highest paid playback singer in the country?” Gautham Menon asks Dhanush.

What comes next is part of a candid interview between Menon and actor Dhanush in part one of Ondraga Entertainment ’s ‘Uraiyaadal and stuff…” on YouTube.

The half-hour interview has the duo discussing everything from how Dhanush wanted to be a chef instead of an actor all the way to the sensation that was Kolaveri. “Everything changed after that song,” Dhanush says. “Viral marketing became possible after it. We did not plan it. Someone leaked it and I am thankful to that person. It got 40,000 views in a day.”

The interview also throws up some little known nuggets about Dhanush.

Sample this: Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya was originally planned with Dhanush in mind. If you can’t wrap that fact around your head, don’t worry, neither can Dhanush. “I am a local boy. I’m not sure I could have carried it off like him. I’m not at all classy like Simbu,” he says.

Dhanush is currently shooting for Gautham’s next movie ‘Enmel Paayum Thotta’. Tipped to be an action flick set among gang wars, the film is touted to be wrapped up in just two months.

As for future plans, Dhanush says next year is completely full for him. “ I have six to seven films in three different languages coming up but I’m planning to take it slow in the next couple of years.”

Dhanush's last release was Thangamagan . He also has four other films currently in hand, apart from Menon’s - Prabhu Solomon's Thodari , R. S. Durai Senthilkumar's Kodi , Marjane Satrapi's The Fakir and an untitled film with Jigarthanda director Karthik Subbaraj. The Fakir is Dhanush's first Hollywood project and is currently in pre-production.
