May 22, 2016 02:34 am | Updated September 12, 2016 07:43 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Daimler AG announced the opening up of a new regional centre for commercial vehicles in Chennai as part of its strategic exercise to realign its global sales and services organisation.

This centre will cater to the needs of markets such as Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Maldives. This centre will oversee sales and service of BharatBenz trucks, FUSO trucks and buses, and Mercedes-Benz trucks, buses, and vans. The realignment process began seven months ago.

The Chennai centre is the last of a total of six regional centres that Daimler has set up in Southern Asia. “This will also enable us to offer tailored products and services from a single source to our customers in markets such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar or Nepal,” a release quoted Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, as saying.
