Actor Robert Lindsay has claimed he was blacklisted for Shakespeare in Love after a run-in with Harvey Weinstein

His co-star in Weinstein-produced rom-com 'Strike it Rich', Molly Ringwald, claimed Mr Weinstein over-sexualised her role and made her perform lines which weren't in the script.

She implied in the New Yorker that her partnership with Robert Lindsay protected her from Mr Weinstein's worst impulses.

Mr Lindsay said that this "halted" his film career.

He wrote: "And yes she’s right and because I confronted him he basically halted my film career.

"When I confronted him little did I know the impact on my career.

"Having been cast in Shakespeare in Love he told the director NO Lindsay."

The actor also spoke of how Mr Weinstein operated when he owned a film.

He tweeted: "#HarveyWeinstein represented everything I came to hate about movies if he owned a movie he owned everyone in it.

"Thank you everyone for your kind words but let’s not forget money power and abuse go hand in hand in every profession".

Allegations continue to come out about the film mogul.

Most recently, Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey said she was left feeling "powerless" after Weinstein made sexual advances towards her.

The 44-year-old English actress, who plays Cersei Lannister in the HBO fantasy series, claims the producer was "furious" when she rebuffed him, and that after "grabbing and holding tightly to the back of [Headey's] arm", he ordered her not to tell anyone about his actions.
