YouTube’s highest paid star, PewDiePie, has been filmed using a racial slur during a live stream.

The 27-year-old Swedish vlogger, who has 57 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, used the N-word while playing video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, then apologised for his language, saying: “I don't mean that in a bad way.”

The gamer was at the centre of another race row in February after posting videos featuring anti-Semitic comments.

He was dropped by Disney after a Wall Street Journal investigation found videos he posted included “anti-Semitic jokes or Nazi Imagery”.

One of the videos posted on PewDiePie’s page featured two men holding up a banner which said: “Death to all Jews.”

He defended the videos at the time, arguing he “was trying to show how crazy the modern world is, specifically some of the services available online”.

“I think it’s important to say something and I want to make one thing clear: I am in no way supporting any kind of hateful attitudes,” he wrote in a Tumblr post.

“I make videos for my audience. I think of the content that I create as entertainment, and not a place for any serious political commentary. I know my audience understand that and that is why they come to my channel.”
