A Belfast hotel’s warning to Irish dancers about performing reels in the lifts has tickled social media users.

Lianne Reddy posted a photo on Twitter of the hilarious note she spotted at a Premier Inn hotel in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.

“An actual sign in the lift in our hotel. I can't breathe with the laughter,” she captioned the photo.

The note said:

“For all our Irish Dancing Champions.

“We at the Premier Inn understand how you need to practise constantly to perfect your skills.

“However if you dance in the lifts they will stop moving and you will be stuck in here until we can get an engineer to come and rescue you.

“P.S best of luck at the Waterfront.”

The World Irish Dance Championships were held in the city’s Waterfront Hall.

She told the BBC: “We had noticed the hotel was really busy but didn’t know why.

“I didn’t realise there was an Irish dancing competition on until we saw the sign.”
