An adorable polar bear cub takes her very first steps at a zoo in Germany and certainly appears to be a natural in front of the camera.

The incredibly cute ball of white fur appeared to wink at the camera and simultaneously pull off a cheeky dab-inspired dance move during her debut at Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich.

She was a bit “wobbly on her feet, but full of enthusiasm” said zoo staff as the cub explored her new surroundings for the first time.

The little cub, who does not yet have a name, likes to venture off on her own whenever her mother Giovanna lies down to relax, according to the zoo.

“We are delighted to see the day-to-day progress of the female cub,” said the zoo’s director Rasem Baban.

“For Giovanna, the real work as a polar bear mum now begins as she will have to keep an eye on the little one. But even this she will manage with no problem.”

Giovanna, who already has twins, gave birth to her latest cub in November last year, with the zoo’s veterinary team able to assess her for the first time 72 days later.

They were quickly able to determine the sex of the baby, as well as weigh and chip her.

“She's in great shape and full of energy, and weighs an impressive 8.4 kilos,” said Dr Christine Gohl.

Ms Baban added: “Having followed the development of the little one via the CCTV for weeks, it was truly special to finally be able to witness in person this morning how healthy and strong the polar bear baby is.”

Staff say she is “getting bigger and more active with each passing day”.
