This six-bedroom manor house in Melling, Lancashire, could be yours for the price of raffle ticket - if you're extremely lucky.

The property is currently owned by 37-year-old Dunstan Low, who put it on the market in December with an asking price of £845,000.

The price has since been lowered to £650,000, but the home has still failed to attract a buyer.  Facing repossession, Mr Low decided to try a different tack, inviting the public to pay £2 to be in with a chance to win the property.

On the website winacountryhouse.com Mr Low writes: "After lovingly renovating our house between 2011 and 2012 we have struggled to pay the mortgage, and have tried but failed to sell the property through traditional routes and we would like to avoid repossession.

"After talking to many estate agents and quick buy companies, we believe it is in our best interest to take the sale of our property into our own hands, whilst offering someone else to the opportunity to own and enjoy the property as their own."

Mr Low hopes to sell £500,000 of the £2 tickets via his website, covering the value of the house and costs including "stamp duty and legal fees, to complete any last minute jobs to ensure the house is as perfect as possible for the next owner".

The house is still on the market at £650,000 - but if it fails to sell by August 1st, he'll pick a winner from one of the raffle entrants. If it does sell, the money raised from ticket sales will become the prize.
