Heartwarming footage from the US shows an 18-year-old girl surprising her "father figure" of 17 years with official adoption papers so he can legally become her dad.
The emotional video, filmed in Chicago, in July, shows Lauren surprising Joe on the day of her high school graduation party by giving him a gift and asking him to be her legal father.
The filmer, Lauren's mother, later wrote online: "Joe has been in Lauren's life since she was one-year-old. "Throughout the 17 years he has been in Lauren's life, he has done all things that a father should do for their child.
"Lauren decided to do something Joe never expected would ever happen," she continued. "The day of her high school graduation party, Lauren gave Joe a gift - Inside the box, was a framed photo of the two of them.
"When he reached down to get the next part of the gift out of the box, Joe was overcome with emotion when he realised what is was: Adoption papers - Lauren was asking Joe to become her legal father."
