Andrea Pirlo is known to be a dead ball specialist, having sent in beautiful free kicks and crosses from dangerous position throughout his career with various Italian clubs and the Italian national team. He is especially known for his precision passing and pinpoint accuracy.

Playing for MLS franchise New York City FC against the Vancouver Whitecaps, the 36-year-old was on corner duty. He proceeded to take one of the worst corners possible, sending the ball into orbit as described by the official commentator for the MLS game.

Pirlo, after having amazed audiences with his dead-ball skills for years, has now shown exactly how much his skills have slipped after moving to North America.

This corner is a sure candidate for the worst corners of the year. So bad, that even MLS’ official Youtube channel could not help but make a parody out of it.

Maybe, too much should not be read into Pirlo’s horrible corner. Earlier in the match, he set up fellow veteran David Villa with a corner kick to brilliantly volley the ball into the goal showing that he still possessed the skills in his 36-year-old legs.

Pirlo during his time in Italy was a master technician, known for his touch, balance, close control and set piece ability. He started playing the deeper midfield role while gaining a reputation as one of the best passers in the game.

Pirlo has played for Italian giants Milan and Juventus in his career apart from playing for the Italian national team before retiring and signing for MLS club New York City FC. He has won the Italian Scudetto twice with Milan and four times with Juventus. Pirlo also won the Champions League with Milan twice, in 2002-2003 and 2006-2007.
