James Rodriguez’s career at Real Madrid has taken a steep slide down

Monaco star forward Radamel Falcao has revealed that Chelsea and Manchester United target James Rodriguez is not happy at Real Madrid. Falcao believes he can identify with the Colombian international’s frustration and the lack of playing time for Los Blancos. After winning the Golden Boot award at the FIFA 2014 World Cup held in Brazil, James Rodriguez was signed by Real Madrid for a whopping £72 million from Monaco.

The 25-year old had a brilliant start under Carlo Ancelotti having made 46 appearances for the club in his first season. But ever since the Italian’s departure took up the hottest seat in World football, James hasn’t had many opportunities in the first team as the French manager prefers Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio and Casemiro in his position.

Falcao who was teammates with the 25-year-old Colombian international during his days at Monaco in 2013/14 season spoke about James’s situation at the Santiago Bernabeu with Cadena Cope radio.

Falcao said, "I speak to James. I don't know if he's unhappy. [But] I do know that every player wants to play. I've been through that. When one doesn't play, he is not happy and things turn complicated. But it happens to all the players."

Back at Monaco after frustrating two-year spell in the Premier League

Radamel Falcao made his way back Monaco in the summer after a disastrous campaign in England with Manchester United and Chelsea. Falcao went on loan to Old Trafford in the 2014-15 season but failed to make an impact scoring just four goals in 29 games for the Red Devils. The move to Chelsea proved to be even worse where he just 15 appearances scoring just one goal for the Blues.

But the former Atletico Madrid star has bounced back to make a great start to this season with Monaco, scoring seven goals in just 12 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

"I'm really enjoying myself," he said. "I'm having continuity and playing ever game. Everything this season has been positive. The most important thing is that I'm playing."

Monaco are currently third in the French to tier just three points behind table toppers OGC Nice. The club has also managed to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League tournament after topping Group E with a game to spare.

"The team is playing well and we hope we can continue to do so," added Falcao. "Our aim in the Champions League is to go as far as we can.”

The 30 year old Colombian international was signed by Monaco for €60 in 2013 from Atletico Madrid and is under contract with Monaco until the year 2018.
