Manchester United Transfer Rumour: Jose Mourinho faces fight from Serie A over move for Isco

Isco has failed to seal a first-team spot at Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Isco – who has regularly been linked with Jose Mourinho's Manchester United – has now been linked with a shock move to Italian giants AC Milan. The Italian club – recently bought over – have their eyes set on Isco as they begin to start challenging in the Serie A once again.

The 24-year-old hasn't been able to secure a first-team spot and could leave the Madrid club in the coming windows. The Italian club, meanwhile, have been taken over by Chinese investment group Haixia Capital and are looking to restore the team to its glory years.

A move for Isco feels like the kind of signing a club would agree to make a statement. The Spaniard is a quintessential passer and someone who creates chances throughout the game and at AC Milan could prove to be a better version of their current Spaniard in the centre, Suso.

Manchester United, however, are still in the race to sign the Real Madrid man with Jose Mourinho looking to sign Isco as a replacement for his club captain, Wayne Rooney. The Englishman has failed to live up to expectations in his role just behind the striker and the Portuguese manager believes Isco could do a much better job creating chances and initiating attacks.

Having joined the club only three years ago from Malaga, Isco hasn't done enough to impress Zinedine Zidane of a first team spot. Even this week, he failed to make it on the field even though the team were without first-choice midfielders Luka Modric and Casemiro. That in itself speaks volumes of how little Zidane values the Spaniard in the team.

If Isco is to leave Real Madrid any time soon, he would cost around £30 million but would be a wise investment given he's only 24.
