Gareth Bale has confirmed his engagement to long-term girlfriend Emma Rhys-Jones. The Real Madrid winger confirmed the engagement via his Twitter page. One good news after the other is coming for the footballer and after a successful Champions League and Euro 2016 campaigns, the Welshman is set to unfold another happy chapter in his life this year.
The winger who turned 27 on 16th July surely had an exciting birthday weekend. Bale and Emma Rhys-Jones are high school sweethearts. They had their first child Alba Violet on 12th October 2012, and their second daughter, Nava Valentina on 22nd march 2016.
After helping Wales qualify for Euro 2016 (their first major tournament since 1958), Bale helped the squad finish on top of the group B above rivals and neighbours England. His instrumental performances in the knockout stages saw Wales eliminate Northern Ireland and tournament favourites Belgium. Their impressive performances and team spirit led them to be the dark horses of the tournament.
But they were robbed off in extra-time by a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Portugal squad who eventually went on to win the tournament. Chris Coleman’s side was welcomed in Cardiff as heroes after unexpectedly reaching the semi-final. With no rumour surrounding him, Bale looks to be well settled in the Spanish capital and enjoying his success to the full. The only disappointment for Bale was his exclusion from the Euro 2016’s team of the year which caused a huge Twitter outrage.
As reported by The Mirror, Bale was seen vacationing in the Balearic islands with his to-be-wife and daughter before returning to pre-season with the Galacticos. Earlier this week, Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzales spoke to The Sun and said that, Real are lucky to have Bale in their squad. With the media continuously comparing Bale with Ronaldo, the former Spanish striker said “Gareth Bale is a great player. I don’t know why one should be considered above another. They need each other.”
With a brilliant season behind him, and getting engaged to his high school sweetheart, Bale is living the life any man would desire. And after the international glory and perhaps getting the happiest verdict of his life, he has to prove his worth yet again as the most expensive player in the world.
