The apple of Perez’s eye

Former Real Madrid manager, Fabio Capello, has labelled French striker, Karim Benzema, as Real Madrid President Florentino Perez’s ‘darling’. The Italian managed Real Madrid twice and has a good understanding about the internal dealings of the club.

The former Juventus tactician said that Zinedine Zidane faces a headache while choosing between Karim Benzema and the in-form Alvaro Morata, which is something that most coaches would kill for.

"Choosing between Benzema and Morata is the kind of dilemma that all coaches would love to have," Capello said to Fox Sport Italia.

The former Russia national team coach then went on to praise Zidane for his work with the Galacticos, but also admitted his surprise at seeing the former Lyon striker start ahead of former Juventus ace, Alvaro Morata.

“Zidane is doing very well but I'm surprised he is using the Frenchman from the start - although he is the darling of the president. Often, he is bringing on the Spaniard to decide the match,” said the Italian manager

Despite many claiming that, tactically, Zinedine Zidane looks out of his depth, Fabio Capello believes that the legendary World Cup winning Frenchman is doing well with the system and is pleasing many with the results that the club is achieving under him.

"I think that his tactics are working well and the results are giving everyone reason to be pleased," Capello added.

With 24 points from the first 10 games, Los Blancos are leading the charge in La Liga, closely followed by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman came under fire after Los Galacticos played out four consecutive draws, but has since amended the wrongs with back-to-back wins.

However, a majority of Madridistas are still not convinced with Zizou’s decision to start the out of form Karim Benzema over Alvaro Morata. The latter has been in hot form and has already scored 7 goals and is the joint top scorer of the club along with Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.

When it comes to efficiency, Morata tops the chart at the club with a goal every 90.57 minutes. He is followed by Marco Asensio (a goal in every 105 minutes) and Cristiano Ronaldo (a goal in every 109 minutes).

Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are way off the Spaniard with a goal every 174 and 224 minutes, respectively.
