S P Udayakumar

S P Udayakumar, who has been accused of 'getting the prime minister's goat', is not one to take things lying down. A Ganesh Nadar/Rediff.com reports.

S P Udayakumar, who has been battling the Koodangulam nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu for four years now, is in the midst of another controversy.

In a secret report that found its way into the national media, the Intelligence Bureau alleged that Udayakumar is a threat to India's economic security.

Udayakumar, who in the past has been accused of 'getting the prime minister's goat', is not one to take things lying down.

Earlier, in an interview to Rediff.com, he said his life and that of his family were under threat as they could be attacked for being anti-nationals by those who believe the Intelligence Bureau's allegation.

Udayakumar has now sued the Intelligence Bureau and also the newspaper that published the report in the Madras high court.

"The matter has been posted for August 13," Udaykumar told Rediff.com "I am not looking for damages nor am I looking for an apology. All I want is departmental action against the officer who leaked the report to the press."
