If you are born in this country, better prepare yourself for struggle at every step, wrote IAS officer Riju Bafna on Facebook on Saturday.

What prompted her to write this? In her post, which has since then gone viral, she wrote that she had filed a complaint against Santosh Chaubey, Aayogmitra of Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission, for sending her indecent messages.

Bafna says a police complaint led to the alleged harasser’s swift removal from his post.

However, her misery didn’t end there.

When she turned up to record her statement before the judicial magistrate in the state, she wrote, “While I was giving my statement, an advocate named Lalit Sharma was standing next, overhearing my statement, along with others in the court. I asked the judicial magistrate to ask others to leave as I was uncomfortable giving my statement in front of so many people. On saying this, Lalit Sharma started shouting at me, saying, ‘how dare you suggest me to leave, I am an advocate here and you might be an officer in your office but not in the Court’. I told him that the privacy I am demanding is not as an IAS officer but as a woman and laws provide me with that. He started arguing and eventually left.”

When she asked the judicial magistrate to be careful about the presence of other people while a woman is giving statement in similar cases, he allegedly said that the IAS officer is demanding such rules as she is young.

Shocked at the behaviour, Bafna then took to Facebook to post the message, saying the country still remained insensitive towards women’s suffering and that ‘idiots are Idiots are lined up at every step’.

At the time of being published, her comment on Facebook had already attracted 2,000 likes and 569 shares.

Go girl, we applaud you!
