A school textbook in Jodhpur has a shocking chapter on moral science.

The book part of the syllabus for Std III shows self-styled godman Asaram Bapu as a 'great saint', The Indian Express reports.

Asaram, who is in jail for more than a year now for sexually assaulting a minor, is shown as a saint in the list of 'country's famous saints'.  On page 40 of the book Naya Ujala, Asaram is featured with Guru Nanak, Swami Vivekananda, Mother Teresa, Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Dayanand, according to the newspaper report.

The book published by Delhi-based Gurukul Prakashan, claims to be based on the National Council Of Educational Research And Training continuous and comprehensive evaluation guidelines, the report says.

Along with these saints, Yoga guru Ramdev is also included in the syllabus which is taught in more than 80 schools in Jodhpur. The education department has said that notices will be sent to these schools on Monday.

Rajasthan Education Minister Vasudev Devnani, meanwhile, ordered investigation in the case.

Guardians of the students have raised concerns over the issue.
