In mimicry artiste turned director Nadirsha’s Amar Akbar Anthony, Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Indrajith play youngsters from a colony in Kochi.

They enjoy their lives with their limited earnings and dream of going to Pattaya to have some fun whenever they can afford it.

Namita Pramod plays the heroine. The shooting of the film has started in Kochi.

Nadirsha, who is known for his parody songs, says that “making the videos for our De Maveli Kombathu series has given me enough experience as a director.

“I had plans to make my debut as a director with Dileep as the hero, as I am closest to him in the industry, but this storyline was too funny and interesting.”

O Lailaa and Kumbasaaram  inspired from foreign films?

Malayalam filmmakers have often been accused of copying their film from other language cinemas in the past.

The recent releases-- O Lailaa and Kumbasaaram have also allegedly been inspired.

Joshiy’s Lailaa O Lailaa, which was a dismal failure, has a backdrop similar to James Cameron’s 1994 film, True Lies. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger in that movie, Mohanlal plays a secret agent who has to hide his original whereabouts from his wife, played by Amala Paul.

Aneesh Anwar’s Kumbasaaram bears an uncanny resemblance to the plot of the 2007 Serbian film Klopka or The Trap.

Jayasurya plays an auto driver who has to kill someone to get money for the treatment of his ailing son.
