Raashi Khanna won a lot of praises for her debut film Oohalu Gusa Gusalade.

Subsequently, Raashi, who played John Abraham’s wife in the 2013 Hindi spy thriller Madras Cafe, did another Telugu film Joru, which didn’t do well.

Her forthcoming film is Jil, with Gopichand in the lead is directed by newcomer Radha Krishna Kumar.

In this interview, she shares details about Jil which releases this Friday, March 27.

How did you get to sign Jil?

Radha Krishna Sir, the director of Jil, had seen Madras Cafe and liked my acting in it.

He wanted a performer and so got me on board.

Your character in Jil seems to be the opposite of what you played in Oohalu Gusa Gusalade...

Yes, the character is different. She’s different from what I am also.

You said in an interview that playing Savitri is every actor’s dream. Could you elaborate?

Savitri is a bubbly, spoilt character. She is forever talking. She is the apple of everyone’s eye.

She does what she wants to do and says what she wants to say.

She is the life of the film.

To play a character like that was a dream come true.

How did Gopichand help you in the film?

He used to make sure he was there for my close-ups even though he was not needed for them.

He helped me with my lines. He is a humble person.

What was director Radha Krishna Kumar’s contribution?

He is the writer. It’s good to work with a writer-director.

He was open to ideas and improvisations. He took care of every minute detail.

He has done a great job for his first film.

I did not feel I was working with a debutant director. He was very confident.

What is Jil about?

It is a mix of action and romance.

There’s a hero and a villain (played by Kabir).

It is a wholesome entertainer.

What have you taken back from this film?

I have grown as an actor and as a person.

The film has opened me up as a person. It has changed me a bit.

I am happy now.

Have you begun shooting for your next film Bengal Tiger?

I begin in the first week of April.

Are you looking at scripts in other languages?

I would like to do a Tamil film.
