Dhanush

After a successful Bollywood debut, Tamil actor Dhanush is all set to make his mark in Hollywood.

The actor has bagged the lead role in Persepolis director Marjane Satrapi’s next project titled The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Cupboard.

The film is based on a bestselling novel by the same name written by debutant author Romain Puertolas. The novel was released in 2014 and has since been translated in 35 languages.

An adventure comedy, the film will have Dhanush playing a fakir, who journeys from Delhi to Paris on a secret mission, only to fall in love, and ends up being deported accidentally.

The National award-winning actor will share screen space with Kill Bill star Uma Thurman.

"I am very excited by this opportunity to work in a full-length Hollywood film -- The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Cupboard for the first time. The director Marjane Satrapi felt I would be apt for this role and I feel there are many facets I can explore for this character. I thank my fans and media for constantly standing by me and pushing me to explore new endeavours and challenges all the time," said Dhanush.

Others in the cast include theatre artist Seema Biswas, who is known for her role in Shekhar Kapur's film Bandit Queen, along with Hollywood actress Alexandra Daddario, Barkhad Abdi and Laurent Lafitte.

The shooting will start later in the year after Dhanush completes his commitments: Vetrimaran's Vada Chennai and Durai Senthil Kumar'Kodi.
