The hits and misses of the week.

Last week's releases Phillauri and Anarkali of Arrah saw strong women-oriented stories at the marquee but failed to draw in collections.

Unlike Phillauri, Anarkali got rave reviews and yet, the response was poor.

Trade analyst Vinod Mirani gives us the weekly verdict. 

Phillauri

Cast:  Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada.

Director: Anshai Lal.

What works: Actors, songs.

What doesn't: Poor climax, lackluster editing, monotonous.

Number of weeks: New.

BO verdict: Poor.

Cast:  Swara Bhaskar, Sanjay Mishra, Pankaj Tripathy.

Director: Avinash Das.

What works: Actors, music, sound, cinematography, production design, dialogues and direction.

What doesn't: Second half could have been tighter.

Number of weeks: New.

BO verdict: Poor.
