Ahead of Father’s Day, which falls on Sunday, we asked your favourite television stars to share their best fatherhood advice.

Fathers are special and will always be.

If daughters are close to their mothers, fathers share a special bond with their son -- a rare bond of friendship and love.

With Father's Day falling over the weekend, we caught up with a few television stars who are proud fathers themselves to tell us two things -- the one thing they wish their fathers had told them and the best fatherhood advice they'd like to share with readers.

We start off with Manav Gohil:

Manav Gohil

Actors Shweta Kawatra and Manav Gohil became parents to a daughter, Zahra born on 11 May 2012.

One thing I wish my father had told me: I wish my father had told me not to find my mother in the girl I fell in love with.

But I guess he was too much in love and learned it on my own.

Best fatherhood advice: Your child will alter the course of your life; enjoy it.

Television actor and businessman Sachin Shroff is married to actor Juhi Parmar.

They got married on February 15, 2009 and the couple have a daughter Samaira, who was born on 27 January 2013.

One thing I wish my father had told me: There were a lot of things I wish my father had shared with me as I lost my father when I was too young.

Not having grown up with him, I have missed out a lot.

Best fatherhood advice: Live a healthy, happy and a positive life which is full of roadblocks because one's determination alone can take you to the moon. Nothing is impossible.

Arjun Punj married his Sanjeevini co-star Gurdeep Kohli in December 2006 and gave birth to daughter Meher in 2010.

One thing I wish my father had told me: There is nothing that I wish my father had told me because my father and I were like friends. We would discuss everything.

When I was young, he was quite strict. But as I became a teenager he became a friend to me and today we even sit and have a drink together.

The best fatherhood advice: When I used to argue with him and never give up he would tell me: Wait until you become a father and then you'll realise where I come from.

Now that I have become a father, when my four-year-old daughter argues with me, I have to keep quiet.

I now pass on the advice my father once gave me. I tell her: 'Wait until you become a mother (smiles)'.

My personal advice is be a friend to your kid, and at the same time let the kids know that you are the father also.

Kids just can’t take you for granted and love you as much or more than anyone else.

Ashita Dhawan and Shailesh Gulabani were blessed with twins -- a son and a daughter in November 2012.

They have been named Arhmaan and Amaira.

One thing I wish my father had told me: To be more serious about my work when I was at the peak of my career.

The best fatherhood advice: Don’t be what I want you to be but be what YOU want to be :)

My advice: It is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves. That will make them successful human beings.

Keerti Gaikwad and Sharad (of Saat Phere and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge fame) who was seen on the big screen in Ram Leela is now a dad.

Keerti delivered a baby girl on February 7 this and they have named her Kesha.

One thing I wish my father had told me: My father was like a friend to me.

I lost him when I was 16 years old and I wish my father was alive in my early 20s.

That is the time that son needs his father and his advice the most while growing up from a boy to a man.

Fatherhood advice: I am suddenly feeling a sense of responsibility after my daughter is born.

It's totally a new life now.

She brings so much happiness that we both have become mature after her birth.

I advice everyone to go through this phase in their life because it's beautiful.

Actor-singer Amit Tandon is married to Dr Ruby Tandon from Vancouver, Canada who has moved to Mumbai after marriage. They have a four-year-old daughter Jiyana.

One thing I wish my father had told me: No matter how bratty my child would be, s/he would still rule my world, just as I did for my parents.

The best fatherhood advice: Hard work always pays off. Never take shortcuts to achieve anything in life.

My advice: It is as important to ask yourself what children you are giving to the world as it is to ask what world you are giving your children.

I hope my daughter grows up to be as sweet, dedicated and honest person as her mother.

(Her mother) has always treated others as she would like to be treated and I hope my daughter Jiyana does the same.

Shaleen Bhanot

Television actors Shaleen Bhanot and Daljeet Kaur were blessed with a baby boy on November 9, 2013. He is named Shaarav.

One thing I wish my father had told me: Beta it’s not easy to be a father.

The best fatherhood advice: My father is my greatest buddy. I tell him everything -- all the good and bad things in my life.

Also I have tried the best of alcohol with him.

My father's advice to me was "you rather become a best friend to your son than a father."
