HMD, the company that now markets the Nokia brand, has unveiled its new flagship Nokia 8.
And the phone ticks all the right boxes of a standard flagship, says Ashish Narsale.

Nokia 8 runs on the latest and powerful chipset Snapdragon 835 and 4GB RAM / 64 GB ROM memory to give competition to other flagship phones. And not to forget a hybrid card slot to expand storage up to 256 GB.

With the Nokia 8 users will not find their smartphones heating up.

Nokia has added a cooling copper pipe, as seen in LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 series, and graphite shield to disperse the system heat.

Nokia uses aluminum unibody shell design that is built with single block of 6000 series aluminum.

Nokia 8 will be available in matte and mirror finish forms in four colours.

Keeping in mind preferences of users who do not always like big screens the Nokia 8 comes with screen size of 5.3" compared to other flagships with screen size 5.5" and above.

The screen sports a display resolution of 2k (2560 x 1440) IPS QHD.

This screen is protected by Corning Gorilla glass 5 and polarised display for easy visibility in sunlight, probably as seen in Lumia series.

We see most phones skipping 3.5 mm audio jack to keep the phone slim but the Nokia 8 stays with the 3.5mm audio jack in its 7.9 mm thickness body.

Nokia 8 includes the new reversible Type C port for quick charging and data transfer.

Nokia has invented a new buzzword '#Bothtie' or selfie 2.0 that boasts about its camera.

Simply put, the camera comes with a feature that enables you to shoot photos/videos simultaneously with both front and rear cameras.

The same was seen on LG G6 as MultiView.

What's more, all the camera sensors sport 13MP with f/2.0.

Out of the two on the rear, one has OIS and the other Monochrome.

The rear camera shoots with the help of laser and PDAF (phase detection auto focus). The front camera also has PDAF.

You can shoot 4k videos using Nokia's OZO technology to record immersive sound in 360 degree with three microphones built into the phone.

Nokia 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of box. As there are no UI enhancements or overlays like other flagship phones, users can have pure android experience.

Nokia promises to have regular updates for phone.

We hope to see the next Google Pixel built by HMD.

The only point which spoils the plot is that the phone is IP54 certified, that is, dust and splash resistant where as most flagship phone come with IP67 certification.

Well, the Nokia 8's pricing, with all these specs is kept under Euro 600, roughly Rs 47,000, which is not a bad deal at all.
