On a day dominated by models, designers and people from India's northeast, Rediff.com's Rajesh Karkera met two lovely ladies -- Yashica Dhabre and Bobby Roy Chaudhry -- and found out what fashion means to them.Bobby Roy Chaudhry

Yashica Dhabre

Yashica Dhabre was born in Nagpur but has lived all her life in Mumbai.

All of 19, she is currently pursuing her second year in fashion designing at the NIFT Kharghar. This was her first time at Lakme and she was really excited.

"I just saw the first show at 12 noon and the last one with the saris was really, really good," she says.

"My favourite designer is Sabyasachi."

Sadly, she won't get to see the Sabyasachi's show on Sunday because her college has chosen another girl to attend it. "I'm surely going to try. Hope I get lucky," she says when asked if she was still hoping to see her favourite designer's collection.

Style Mantra

I'm wearing high-waisted flare pants and a cashmere jacket from Zara and a crop top inside.

I wanted to basically go with a chic look and since everything is covered, I picked this crop top.

Fashion Statement

Fashion, to me, is creating something wearable, nothing too extravagant, but one should feel comfortable in it.

It should be something that makes you feel good about being in it. Like, right now, I am really comfortable. I want people to be themselves and wear something that accentuates their look.

Bobby Roy Chaudhry from Assam, who is accompanied by her husband Hridayananda, has a good sense of humour.

Bobby Roy Chaudhry

"I stopped counting my age after I crossed 40," she turns the table on us when asked about her age.

Like Yashica this was Bobby's first time as well at Lakme Fashion Week. "I came here to support my friend (designer) Anuradha (Pegu). I came only to attend this show," she says.

Style Mantra

This is a mekhela chadar, a traditional garment of Assam, made from vegetable dyes," she gushes.

"It is completely environment friendly," she adds about her sari designed by designer Anuradha. "She is the ONLY lady who designs authentic environment-friendly garments," she says in support of her friend.

Ask her about her earrings and she laughs coyy, "They are from Amrapali; nothing to do with Assam."

Fashion Statement

"Fashion, to me, is being a woman of substance. It doesn't mean looking beautiful and dressing properly or wearing the best things available."
