India will usher in 2016 with a three-week tour of Australia, comprising five ODIs and three T20 Internationals, starting January 12.

The limited-overs' series against the reigning World champions Australia will start at the WACA in Perth.

It is imperative here to state that as per the new bilateral agreement, India, henceforth, will tour Australia separately for Tests and ODIs. This is something Cricket Australia honcho James Sutherland had clarified during the ICC World Cup in March.

Accordingly, India's short tour Down Under will commence on January 12 and end on January 31.

During the same, the Indian team will play matches at all major venues like Melbourne (MCG), Sydney (SCG), Perth (WACA), Adelaide Oval and Brisbane (Gabba).

"We want to build on this great momentum," CA executive general manager Mike McKenna said.

"Following the World Cup, we are determined that local Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghan, Sri Lankan and other overseas-born fans who packed Australia's grounds with good-humoured noise and colour are able to maintain their passion for cricket as part of their adopted Australian lifestyles," added McKenna.

Australia and India are the world's top-ranked One-day teams with their World Cup semi-final, even though a one-sided encounter, watched by more than 300 million fans on Star TV in India, CA said.

Prior to the arrival of the Indian team, Australia will take on Trans-Tasman rival New Zealand in Test cricket for the first time since 2011, when the sides tied their two-match series.

They will face-off in Brisbane (5-9 November) and Perth (13-17 November) before an historic day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval (27 November – 1 December).

Australia will then face the West Indies in Test matches in Hobart (10-14 December), Melbourne (26-30 December) and Sydney (3-7 January).

CA also announced that the Sydney Cricket Ground will host all internationals in New South Wales state. T20s have been staged at Sydney's Olympic stadium since 2010.

January 15 - Australia v India, Gabba, Brisbane
January 17 - Australia v India, Melbourne Cricket Ground
January 20 - Australia v India, Manuka Oval, Canberra
