Patna, March 1 : Four Congress MLCs in Bihar on Thursday joined the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U), a day after they were expelled for anti-party activities.

The four Members of the Legislative Council -- including former Bihar minister and former state party President Ashok Choudhary along with Dileep Choudhary, Tanvir Akhtar and Ramchander Bharti -- met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and formally joined the party.

"We met Nitish Kumar at his official residence and have taken up the membership of the JD-U," Ashok Choudhary told the media here.

On Wednesday, sensing a revolt, Congress state president Kaukab Quadri expelled the four.

Later on Wednesday, Choudhary announced that "all four of us will join the JD-U" and praised Nitish Kumar, who is also the JD-U President, describing him as an "ideal leader".
