Shimla, Feb 6 : Temperatures remained below the freezing point at most places in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday with higher reaches getting more snowfall, the meteorological office here said. It also said that more snow and rain is likely between February 9 and 12.

Keylong, headquarter town of Lahaul and Spiti district, was the coldest at a minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district, which recorded a low of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, experienced four cm snowfall. Rekong Peo and Pooh in the district saw two cm and eight cm snow, respectively.

The state capital saw a low of 4.6 degree Celsius, while the temperature was 7.6 degrees in Dharamsala. The maximum temperature in both towns stayed at 16.3 degrees and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Picturesque tourist resort Manali, which saw overcast skies throughout the day, saw a low of 3.4 degrees Celsius. However, its nearby hill destinations like Gulaba and Kothi saw more snowfall.

"Most hill stations are likely to experience snow and rain from February 9 to 12," a weatherman said.

He said there are high chances of snow in the upper reaches of Kullu, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Chamba districts.
