New Delhi, Nov 10 : Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, in a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, on Friday sought the proposal for opening "Schools of Excellence".

"Proposal for opening of 'Schools of Excellence' (which would have an ambience and environment like the private schools) has never been received in my Secretariat nor was the issue ever raised by the Chief Minister in any of their weekly meetings.

"It should be sent to me expeditiously as per rules so that there is no further loss of time," the letter said.

The Lt Governor, in a statement, said that he assures support to any proposal which improves the quality of education in government schools here.

He also said that the matter has been pending in Sisodia's office since the first week of September.

Baijal emphasised that a solution could have been found in this case also as per the scheme of governance of NCT (National Capital Territory), if he was apprised of this issue in time.

He said that there could have been a joint meeting with all the stakeholders concerned "to iron out any creases in the smooth implementation of this proposal".
