Los Angeles, Oct 25 : After her stint in "Grey's Anatomy", actress Sara Ramirez is returning to the small screen with "Madam Secretary".

Ramirez will play Kat Sandoval, described as "a brilliant political strategist, legendary in DC for her talent and for abruptly dropping out of politics until Elizabeth (Téa Leoni) manages to coax her back into the State Department". Her character will be introduced internationally on November 19, reports eonline.com.

"We're very excited that Sara is joining the cast," said Barbara Hall, executive producer and series creator.

"She brings a fresh perspective and a fun, energetic quality to the State Department staff," Hall added.

"Madam Secretary" also stars Tim Daly, Zeljko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood and Evan Roe.

The series follows the life of Leoni's Elizabeth McCord as the Secretary of State.

Ramirez steps in as actress Bebe Neuwirth, a series regular since the show's start, exited the show.

The season four of "Madam Secretary" will premiere in India on October 29 on AXN.
