Thiruvananthapuram, October 21 : The political affairs committee (PAC) of the congress party that met here on Saturday has resolved to fight the fallout of the judicial commission report on the solar scam both legally and politically.

Speaking to reporters after the PAC meeting, congress Kerala unit (KPCC) president M M Hassan said that the party would decide on its future course of action as regards the solar scam after obtaining expert legal opinion.

Hassan reiterated that the government’s decision to order vigilance and criminal enquiries against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and other congress leaders on the basis of the judicial commission report on the solar scam was an act of political vendetta, adding that opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s upcoming ‘Padayorukkam’ march would expose this.

The KPCC president also alleged that the LDF government decided to convene a special assembly session on November 9 to table the judicial commission report on the solar scam in a bid to save face.

Meanwhile, former KPCC president V M Sudheeran reportedly sharply criticised the previous congress-led united democratic front (UDF) government at the PAC meeting over its handling of the financial fraud cases that came to known as the solar scam.

Sudheeran reportedly alleged that lapses on the part of and faults in the way the chief minister’s office functioned paved the way for the accused in the solar scam to defraud the public.

Sudheeran’s sharp rebuke aside, the deliberations at the PAC meeting is reported to have largely stuck to the predetermined script. Prior to the PAC meeting, speculation had been rife that both the factions in the party have arrived at a consensus to close ranks and project a united face in the political battle over the solar scam controversy.
