Mumbai, Oct 21 : Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar paid tribute to the Indian soldiers on the auspicious occasion of Bhai Dooj, which was celebrated across India on Saturday.

"I wish the Indian soldiers on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. I am also like their sister, who loves and respects them. I want our soldiers to stay happy and hope that god gives them long life," the 88-year-old said in a video posted on Facebook on Friday night.

"India exists as a country due to our soldiers and that's how we exist, otherwise we were nothing. I want to request the soldiers that if they need anything from me, then they just need to order me as I am always ready for them," she added.

The legendary singer has touched many hearts with her tracks like "Lag ja gale se phir", "Aye mere watan ke logon", "Yeh galiyan yeh chaubara" and "Tere bina zindagi se".

She also sang the popular song "Ae mere watan ke logo" for the Indian armed forces.
