Chandigarh, Oct 20 : Over 41.25 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived so far in grain markets in Haryana, food and supplies officials said on Friday.

The paddy procurement officially started in the state on October 1. Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts were leading in paddy arrival and procurement.

Of the total arrival, government agencies have procured over 39.92 lakh tonnes (over 96 per cent), while 1.32 lakh tonnes of paddy has been purchased by millers and dealers.

Haryana had last year recorded an all-time high procurement of over 53.24 lakh tonnes of paddy. This season, another bumper paddy crop is expected.

The procurement process will continue till November end.
