Chennai, Aug 10 : The Madras High Court on Thursday stayed a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, which prevented him from travelling abroad.

The court also ordered the central government to file an affidavit on the matter on September 4.

The Centre had told the court that the LOC was issued to prevent Karti Chidambaram from going abroad.

According to reports, the LOC was issued by the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with alleged irregularities in securing Foreign Investment Promotion Board approvals.

The central government contended that Karti Chidambaram did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate when summoned.

On the other hand, Karti Chidambaram had contended that the LOC was issued without any application of mind by the authorities and due to political pressure.

Karti Chidambaram moved the High Court on August 4, seeking to know from the Centre whether a lookout notice was issued against him.
