New Delhi, Aug 8 : Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has rolled out a Rs 481.95 crore scheme for strengthening food testing in the country, parliament was informed on Tuesday.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste said that government has also approved a Rs 1,750 crore proposal for strengthening the country's drug regulatory system at the central and state levels.

"Of this, Rs 900 crore is for strengthening the Central regulatory structure, while Rs 850 crore have been approved as the Central Government's contribution for upgrading and strengthening the States' Drug Regulatory System," said Kulaste.
